Want to Join the Dolphins?
The Lake Linganore Dolphins Swim Team is part of the Frederick Summer Swim League. The season runs from the week of Memorial Day and includes 4 dual meets (with a bye the week of Independence Day), a Relay-Carnival, a Divisionals Meet, and an All Stars Meet (for qualifying swimmers); typically running for a total of 8 weeks.
The team has a strong focus on supporting one another and team building and includes several fun social events throughout the season. While stroke and turn development and healthy competition are included, summer swim has a stronger emphasis on team and social development.
Criteria to Join the Dolphins
In order to join the Lake Linganore Dolphins Swim Team, a swimmer must:
1. Be a resident of Lake Linganore and LLA member. Proof of residency is required at registration.
2. Be a minimum of 5 years old and no older than 18.
3. Be able to swim the LENGTH of the pool (25 m) without stopping on the rope, wall, or pool bottom, doing front crawl stroke AND a length doing backstroke.
4. For Pre-Team, must be able to swim the LENGTH of the pool without stopping on the rope, wall, or pool bottom, doing any stroke, but must show some emerging stroke form (i.e.,: cannot doggie paddle the entire length).
When to Register:
Registration for returning Dolphins families opens in April. For prospective Dolphins families, sign-ups for new swimmer evaluations also opens in April as well.
